Why 2009 and not 2010?

Does anyone know why the US/North America release of the Cube in 2009 wasn't considered a 2010 model year?
It seems like all other manufacturers at this time of the year have their 2010 models out.

Even with the US/North American Cube, they had to redesign the body to flip the assemetric window to match the driver side change from the European and Japanese Cubes, so why not just say it's a 2010?

Do you think that the 2010 model year Cube will look different from the 2009 version?

Thanks,
Gren

Looks-wise, I'm sure it will be the same. I'll bet they will make some changes to the packages, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a sunroof option.
yeah there seems to be some confusion. I think Car & Driver or someone is even calling the current ones 2010.

I think it has to do with seasons / fiscal years. They seem to want to introduce all next year models a month or so before the beginning of the fiscal year. Which is usually in August.

I agree with the notion of same basic car, different options. If there really is no real change in model from year to year (which is typical of most cars) than it's easy enough to just convert '09s still coming/bieng built in '10s so they don't take a hit in operating costs. They can see what packages people look for when purchasing the '09s and maximize them when they roll out the '10s.

Also I think a LOT of cubers like myself will be able to get anything new on a '10 that they want as aftermarket, so theres no need to "hold out" for a '10, the entheusiasts can go ahead and get there cube and by 2010 the exposure will have made it's influence.

that's what I think anyway.
yeah, like commando said, if a car is released at or near the beginning of the fiscal year, it's labeled as the "following" year's model. since the cube was released in the spring of 2009, it's technically still an '09. i don't know why some sites call it a 2010, but it's not :p
I hope they stop making this particular style of Cube in a few years, like Scion did with the original xB. I really don't want everybody and their brother owning a Cube. :)

Remember thougthat Scion lost a lot of xB enthusiats when they introduced their new look.
