My Pioneer AVIC has a female USB wire running from the rear of the radio. This is used for the iPod cable. In addition to the USB plug, this iPod cable has three RCA plugs for audio and video. To use the iPod, you connect the USB and the three RCAs. If I want to connect a USB device to the head unit, I would have to unplug the iPod USB.

So, here's the question. Is it worth the trouble to leave that USB connection accessible so that I can get to it if I want to connect another USB device? Why would I connect a USB device? The head unit also has an SD card as an input for music, pictures, etc.

If you don't have any other devices to connect or can't think of anything else to connect then why leave them around to deal with? If anything the opportunity is a fairly simple fix if you decide you have more than just your ipod to plug in.

Good point. I'll leave it as it is.
