I was wondering my fellow Cubethusiasts, How fast have you gone? Yesterday with 3 friends in the car and no A/C I got it up to 100 mph, and i had a lot of pedal left. I got her up to 80 in the merge lane so it was quite a thrill for my passengers, I think I might have helped the local Nissan dealer sell a couple more, ;-)

Funny, just last night I also got mine up to 90 (passing a convertible mustang that gave me a double take look! LOL), had plenty of pedal left, and was going into a stiff headwind. I was pleasantly surprised. The rockford fosgate sound system easily handled it too.

I was not trying to impress anyone here or anyone in the car, just seeing what the car is capable of, and what other Cubists have to report on their speed numbers.

The wind noise was not bad, and the car tracked straight with no issues to report.

Maybe you do have a leaky Cube, Melting? Anything is possible. Oh and another point I'd like to make especially to the user named "none". I respect what you do with your Cube and will never ever judge you for what you do to it so please, return the favor.

If the posted speed limit is 75 and you generally do 10 over and and the police do not seem to notice or care much of your car doing 80-85, and they do nothing except fly past you at 90-100, is 15 more mph really that big of a deal for let me see, maybe 10 seconds or so before I slowed to the posted limit?

It was only a test, and they were not your friends or family in the car.

If you would like to escalate this to an all out flaming war, lets spare our fellow Cubists the anguish, and take care of this in a PM from now on, ok?

Re: Top Speed AKA Change this topic to MPG

For 122HP and the size and weight of this machine, I'd say it has some large hamsters.

On a side note about speed, My average MPH reading since purchase is a staggering 33 MPH, so enough said about the subject on speed. Now on to my MPG numbers in which I will post here for the last time and post in the MPG thread instead.

At 65 mph the trip computer says 35.5mpg with the a/c on.

You let us know how that works out for you :D

I have found it to be off. The rated MPG has held true from the sticker 100%

Wasn't trying to pick on ya, bud. Just saying that I'm scared to go that fast in my area, lol. When I was younger, I didn't have the best driving record and my insurance showed it
BTW, how many miles were on your cube before you hit Warp speed? And to the others, about how many miles should be on your cube before it's "broken in"?

Re: Break-In

Nissan recommends that you don't "hard" drive the car for the first 1200 Miles. I do not want to grandma the car, and subsequently find a flaw years from now, I want push the drivetrain and find weak spots now, and get them fixed under warranty. The Dealer says 500-750 is fine. This is not my first brand new car, and some other manufacturers have also used the 500 mile break-in routine for engine and brakes. So with that said, my Cube has a little over 1000 miles on it, and yes I have run the engine at 1000 rpm over the suggested 4000 rpm break-in. So far, no troubles or warnings to report.

You are brave. I babied every new car I had, and then stress tested them later (with no problems). You bring up an interesting point... if the engine blows after a week, or after 2 years - are they still as willing to replace it? I would say that they would put up a fight no matter the timeline. They will try to pin it on the customer.

This is going back a few years but at the BMW dealer a brand new car was towed in with a blown motor and NO they would not replace it. I was able to see the entire thing unfold as the owner was coming unglued. They were willing to split the cost of the install but the owner had to pay like 8K for a new long block. It ended in the cops getting called and a lot of people left the dealership to avoid the ruckus.

I baby my cars

I agree none.

As far as the Warranty goes. I do remember my dad getting a brand new 1982 Chevy Silverado P/U, and in less than 3000 miles the engine went Kaboom. The dealer was a jackass and said they would not replace the engine, A couple days after speaking with someone at General Motors Corp. The dealer did replace the engine, at no cost.

Ultimately the engine had a mechanical failure unrelated to the customer's or Dealer's fault. The oil pump drive shaft broke in half and with no oil pressure, you know the rest...

We all know that these cars are produced in bulk with what I would say varying quality. I do not expect every car of the same model to be identical in horsepower, mpg, ride quality. Manufacturers know your not going to follow the proper procedures to the letter and there is no way to enforce it. If I blow up at 1000 miles and grandma moses blows up at 59999 miles they better take care of Me AND Grandma, period.
