i went to a dealer yesterday to finally test drive a cube. they must of had over 20 cubes in stock and only ONE was a stick- black on black- exactly what i'm driving now and no way in heck i'm going to buy another black on black again.

he looked at their inventory- so cal??? not sure how far he looked but said the few manuals they get are in the basic colors- white, silver, black. i'm leaning toward the blue or charcoal with light grey cloth.

the last automatic i drove (besides rentals) was a datsun 210, nearly 20 years ago. never thought i'd go back to a nissan.

so manual drivers- did/are you holding out until you get what you want? is the cvt that great? hesitate b/c my perception? that manuals are simpler ie cheaper to repair and just more fun.

am i misinformed on the $$$ repair?

The CVT can be pricy to repair, but I was sold by the superior gas milage

Manual: 24/28

CVT: 28/30

I've always driven a manual, but the CVT is A LOT of fun to drive. It also confuses the hell out of pretty much everyone else (no shift points)

I prefer driving a stick also. I own an autostick and don't really like it much. It downshifts FOR you as you slow down. Really have to pay attention or you're a gear lower than you think sometimes. Mostly, I just drive it as an automatic and say the hell with it.

A stick with a nice exhaust (or fart cannon) sounds so much better. Then you don't have to be hanging your head out of the drivers window making all those funny noises. pbltttttttttttttttt, pbltttttttttttttttt.............. :-[

I went with what they had available pretty much. My choices were grey and white. I was hoping for blue or chocolate. It seems like most people prefer automatic in the mass market so dealers tend to get them less and less.

...but my ultimate goal is to get a custom paint job. Originally I was trying to go with Icey or Stormy motif.
Now I'm also considering a Pittsburgh Penguins or Cammo Cube as well. Descisions Descisions.

I'm just gonna have to compare both when the time comes, I guess. Wonder what a performance exhaust system would sound like on a car with a CVT? Ideas ...............recommendations ? Anyone planning on changing exhaust when systems become available ? ???

The CVT is specifically designed to avid the higher rpm's, so I doubt you would get the typicall revvig that you want. I suspect you wouldn't get your money's worth.

I'm not a "redline" driver. I never abuse my cars or race anyone. Just like good performance and sound. Wheels/intake and exhaust is enough for me. I just hate the sound of a stock exhaust. About the only time I ever exceed the speed limit anymore is when I hit the freeway ramp. Then I use the autopilot when I can and settle in at the speed limit or even less when traffic is light. Saves me a little money. My car looks good even when it's going slower than the rest. 8)

Did the whole Fast N Furious thing back in the day. The Cube isn't gonna be tearing up the strip anytime soon. Those that've tried on the Versa have had to deal with catastrophic failures on the engines/ trannies. Unless you're gonna drop mad cash on a hybrid and go frankenstein on the Cube, these motors aren't gonna put out any real HP. Unless you're trying to milk every last ounce to oooomph out of it, I'd stay with the CVT. But that's just me. I'm going with basic bolt-ons and go with appearance and ICE (in-car-entertainment). I can live without the manual.

And once in awhile, the wifey can drive it too!

There is a Caribean Blue 6 speed in Redlands and ontario, California. I almost bought it but because I have a permanent leg injury the clutch was too much for me. So I bought a auto

we have the same problem here. there are very few manuals and only ONE blue cube within 100 miles of here! and it's a CVT, too. when i'm in a comfortable position to purchase one, i will be custom ordering it because i highly doubt i'll find the exact one i want anytime soon. if for some reason i opt not to order it, i'll settle for a white base model (the base is MT only). sorry, but there's no way i'll settle for a CVT!

there was a base white one here in san jose CA a few wks back when i looked at it. for me, a base is too bare bones for my taste

I am not a fan of automatic at all, but the CVT is a nice change. Agreed with above this car will not win any awards in the speed department.

Can wait to see what Consumer Reports has to say about it. You know what market is going to like this car? Old people, easy to get in and out (replaced hips and all) and its not to fast.
That is what the element became known as.

My wife and I are looking for a 1.8S, white, black interior, 6sp and we found the only one in SoCal at Connell Nissan in Costa Mesa. So I go to the dealer and it's not there, turns out the manager has been using it!! They offered to sell it to me, but if I'm going to be paying for a new car, I want a NEW car.

We have decided we aren't going to budge on color interior or exterior and we definitely aren't budging on the 6spd. My dad has an Altima with CVT and we hate it, that constant drone you get from the engine bay makes my head hurt.
