Has any one done anything to the middle red section between the tail lights that has CUBE on it? I saw how easily removable it is and it looks like it was originally made to light up but Nissan decided to plug the hole??? I was thinking about putting dual red led strips inside and tying them into the driving and brake lights.
Any suggestions?

i dont think they were "meant to light up but blocked off"....full length tails have been a nissan thing since the late 80's / 90's...my 240 had it, the first q45

If having a light there means removing the applique completely, then you shouldn't do it. If you can add lights and make it seem like they are coming from that applique, that is the way to go. Good luck though.

I believe that is exactly what he was meaning - the section is actually setup like a shadow box - and with the correct LED's placed in there - the cube emblem should look like it is floating off the top. I was looking at this the other day myself and asking why they didn't put lights in that section - and wondering what it looks like behind there... I was going to wait until I got the rest of my LED's and order a small strip/ couple of reds for that area as well.

I was working on that. Just haven't got around to the LED install. Have already debagded it though.

Get a white LED light bar and slide it in there. Don't use RED LED's

I will have to measure the clearance and check it out.

Funny. My buddy and I was looking at that the other day as well. His dad has a firebird and they removed his section and added lights so the bird lights up at night. I was wondering if you could remove it, get a vinyl decal with Cube cutout of it, add lights behind so it would light up when the lights are on. Maybe we all need to try our own ideas and see how things go.

I agree that you should not remove it since it is not meant to blocked of the light and you need a LED light to resolve this issue.

I was thinking this the other. Taking it off and putting some LED's in there and either leaving it like the way it is and have it lighted.

OR

Spray it with either black or body color and remove the badge this way the LED behind it will light up the word Cube.

when i did the debadge it looked hollow, im thinking constant running/blinkers/brakes in there.

I also debadged that area and have though it'd be great for a full length tail light. I'm just too lazy to try it right now.

I saw this piece we're talking about online for about $36.00 plus shipping. Makes me want to order it to play around. I'm thinking something like drilling out little holes in the shape of the badge and tying them into the taillights. I dunno, maybe I'm thinking ahead of myself here.

I just noticed tonight when I drove up and got out to get the mail that it didn't light up. I assumed it did. Thats crazy
