Remembering the 60's and 70's

The over all vibe of owning and driving a cube reminds me of what it must have been like back in the late 60's or early 70's driving a VW Beetle or VW Van. Only This is way better because it is a Nissan not a VW! People who drive Cubes have good Karma!

After graduating college, a friend and I drove around the U.S. and back through Canada in my Dad's VW bus (started in DE). It was just plain wonderful -- loved it.

Bug collection properties were phenomenal (entire front became encrusted), but it was just such an incredibly good touring vehicle -- not much on speed, not great in crosswinds, but wall-to-wall space for camping gear and sleeping bags, and a plucky high torque engine and 4-speed tranny that just kept going -- mountains et. al. :)!

Must have been one of the new vans? Because the old ones couldn't make it up hills without hitting second gear & 20 MPH!
Well, let's be real -- the purpose of gears in those machines wasn't to get up to speed (like is typical for todays cars), but to get the ratio that accomplishes the job :)! But it did just fine crossing the rockies in both countries.
