Reliability

Wondering how reliable the Cube might be. I understand it's similar to the Versa and I've heard mixed reviews of those.

Having my Cube for a little over 2 weeks now, I can say that it's one of my favorite vehicles that I have owned. It has mostly been driven in the city, but have had it on the highway as well and can say that it has and seems to be very reliable.

Do you have any links/reviews regarding the Versa or the engine not being reliable?
I've seen some concern about the CVT, but not enough to be scared off of it. The XTronic CVT has been around in other models since 2003, and the engine used in the cube is the same as what is in the Versa and whatwas in the Sentra. It is actually the oldest model of engine that Nissan uses.
I've never actually had a problem with nissans. The ones I've been around have been wonderful. Thats actually the main reason why I got my cube.
Versa had quite a few problems early on, with the tire pressure monitoring system and the engine computer. I'm pretty sure that these have been resolved by now, but more than a few Versa owners swore off of Nissan vehicles.

We had an 05 X-Trail before our Cube, and I had a 01 maxima before that, and ditto, the excellent quality and durability were a big factor in our decision to pick up another nissan.
If you look at the consumer reports the Versa hasn't had stellar reliability, but then again not horrible either.
I would think that Nissan has iron most of the bugs out of the Versa Engine by now, it's been around since 2007.
It seems like Nissan quality has been improving.
Versa built in Mexico. :-\

Cube built in Japan. :)

Cube wins! ;)

yep, i was worried about the reliability of the cube since it's so similar to the versa...but the fact that it's all made in japan was a nice selling point for me :)
does anyone have any Idea why the can't seem to get it right at the plant in Mexico???
Um... because it's Mexico?

What do you have against Mexicans that you don't have from Japanese?

The only part of my Nissan Titan not made in Mississippi was the transmission that was built in Japan.

My Cube was 100% Japanese as was my Honda Fit 100% Japanese built.

If you wanted a new German designed Bug you had to rely on Mexico to produce it.

Not answering for Dan but I think these are two very different cultures with entirely different work ethics/philosophies. I've rarely if ever have a problem with workmanship in a car rather it's parts failures. I think the country of origin for parts used in the assembly of the Cube vs. Versa will ultimately tell the tale of reliability.

My 2 cents (centavos).
Growing up in a region that was primarliy Mexican, and at a different time working for a Japanese company, I can honestly say that I observed a marked difference in work ethic and precision between the Japanese and the Mexicans.
Yeah I don't know where I was going with that, it sounded better in my head for some reason.

It is my experience that words do not translate well over internet forums. The same things that I talk to people about in person (without peril) seem to get people mad or confused online. I have considered doing a Masters thesis on the subject!
I was a bit concerned about reliability too but this car has been out in Japan for 7 years I think and as someone said it's got a time tested engine in it. I traded in my Toyota Yaris on my Cube so being a Toyota driver I suffered from the thinking that if it's not Toyota or Honda it's not reliable, which simply isn't true.

I drive some 60,000 miles a year so I figure I'll report in often about how the Cube is holding up.

WOW! Is this a daily commute or do you make long trips? Yup, you'll be our durability pioneer. Please keep us regularly updated.

I'm a home health aid for Hospice so I get around some.

I do have some sad news to report. My sub in the back door is trashed. But that is on Fosgate, not Nissan.
