Just talked to a number of dealers. A bunch of them said they had no idea. One dealer said they are getting 2 for the official release date of May 1st. One dealer told me they are getting a large number of them sometime in april. I now have a personal contact who will keep me updated at that dealer ;D

Was walking in midtown NYC today and I saw a North American caribbean blue Cube drive up 6th Avenue and 35th Street. It had California plates. Wheel covers suggested it was a Cube-S. Probably was a test vehicle for an upcoming review (NY Times). The Cube will be a highlight of the NY Auto Show, April 10-19.

I have just placed my deposit for a white one here in Vancouver Canada. As from the dealer, it will be an april production vehicle, shipping in May.

Nissan in NY is really blowing this launch. At the NY Auto show, they have 3 models on display. But they are not letting people touch the cars. Meanwhile Kia has a fleet of SOuls on the streets of midtown, plus 3 Souls on the show floor, all with unlocked doors. Nissan is dropping the ball here. With less than a month to go before the Cube hits the streets, they have velvet ropes around the vehicle. Not good.

What's up with that!? I keep reading that about many of the auto shows not allowing "sit ins". Let the peeps experience the Cube and not just let them stare at it. I was a the Vancouver auto show a couple weekends ago and everyone was groping the Cube on display there, which was pretty cool. I mean, if they are marketing this vehicle for everybody, then make it accessible and not snub the interested parties.

Here are some pics of the show.

If you are in San Diego- stop by SDSU- we will let you sit in it all day if you want!
We will even let you plug in your iPod so you can experience the fosgate sub in the rear!

Go to www.sdcube.com for more details about the event....
After that May 5th they will be at your local dealership to check out-

I think Nissan just wants to create interest about cube before it launches- and from what I hear they don't have a lot of vehicles to go around before the release- they might just want to keep the cars in prime condition so they can showcase them at all the auto shows...

It is a very cool car- sit tight and be patient-

I have it on good authority that the Cube was spotted in Tacoma, Washington yesterday. I believe Nissan uses both Tacoma and Portland, Oregon to offload cars for the Western US. So, they may be here already!. I'll call a Tacoma dealership today.

Called back the dealer who said there was a "strong rumor" that they'd have some on April 28. Nada. On another note, Eastisde Nissan (Bellevue, WA) in last weekend's newspaper said "Cube is coming! We'll have 10 to choose from soon!", this weekend, their ad doesn't mention the Cube at all. I wonder if NissanUSA gave them a slap on the wrist? I've never seen a car introduction like this (although the 1979 Ford Mustang was close).

Frustrated...

I was really stoked about the Cube for a loooong time. Then I found out that it wouldn't be offered here with the bench seat and column shift or in any of the cool pastel colors. Ok, such is life...

Then the reported gas mileage went from "35+" to 30. Ok, that sucks...

Then I stopped in one of the local dealers back in February and they couldn't give me any info on when it would arrive, didn't have a brochure or any info what-so-ever. Right... ok then.

Now I cruise by the Kia dealership, see a buch of Souls ON THE LOT so I stop. Same price as the Cube, but with more HP/torque, same mpg, factory 18" rims, better stereo AND 10 year/100,000 mile drive-train warranty... Suddenly, I'm not so certain about the Cube. :-\ I need to see a Cube soon, or I may just be behind the wheel of a Soul.
