hello and welcome ;D enjoy your new beauty! out of curiosity, what was it that drew you to the cube?
Honestly, price and size.. I traded in my dying isuzu rodeo and the cube fit the bill.. I used the "cash for clunkers" program and I wanted something I could pay the remainer in cash and that would haul my dive gear(im a technical scuba diver) and use for tailgating(RAVENS BABY).. And the only cars that fit the bill were the Kia Soul and the Cube, obviously Nissan is a much better vehicle than Kia, so the Cube was it.. :)

good choice! i briefly considered the soul...it's not a bad car, but kia's track record just killed it for me. resale value would likely have been very low, especially compared to a cube. i had also considered a yaris, but in the end it would have been about the same price for one with comparable features to the cube i had my eye on. and, well, i just like the cube a lot more :D

True.. The Soul is a nice looking vehicle but I agree, their track record isnt good..
I also looked at the yaris, it just looked like an overpriced terd to me..

I also liked the idea of a 6-speed even though im still getting used to it(always driven 5-speeds).. My racecar is a 4-speed that used to be a 5-speed(5th removed for a girdle).. It still scares me when putting it into 6th since thats where reverse is on a 5-speed..

lol, a turd! ;D i don't think yarises (yarii?) are that bad looking, but they don't stand a chance against a cube when it comes to looks.

my boyfriend felt the same way about the transmission in his STI when he got it last year; it took him a bit of getting used to. my current car is a 5-speed, but the reverse is in the 1st gear position (push the knob down, shift to 1st), so i won't feel quite as nervous as you are about that 6th gear :p

Dont get me wrong, the yaris is a nice looking car but for the money, a Honda Fit would be a much better choise(ahh, I love my 07 fit).. :)

The ones that I saw where the push the knob down and into reverse were on the VW's, I actually tried to do that in the Cube until the salesman told me about the coller..

The thing that worries me is that when I drive my Fit, ill try to shift into "6th".. I know that the Fit(like most manuals) has a reverse lockout but still.. I have rebuild many many manuals and it just the though of the reverse idler gear moving up when your doing those speeds.. :-\
