OK After purchasing the Cube I quickly noticed the flimsy plastic over the interior lights and how hot it got so quickly.

This will yellow the plastic quick and weaken it too.

I changed out the dome light with a 12 grid flat panel LED from AutoZone for under $20.00 and ordered a few different models of hight output LED's from superbrightleds.com to change out the map lights.

All I can say is WOW, the car is so bright on the inside now, and it is ice cold to the touch. extremely bright white!

For very little money I enhanced the interior and can leave the domes on all night if I wish and it will not even drain the battery at all. I left all 4 lights on all night (10 hours) just to see what would happen and the car started like nothing was on.

woohoo, that's a great idea! i will definitely be doing it to my cube when it finally arrives

it will be exciting to have a car with working interior lights...both my current and previous cars' interior lights were broken, lol.

The other night wile at a restaurant I left the lights on as a security measure, if it is bright inside no-one wants to be seen messing with a car. I worried none on killing the battery.

Also for you ladies worried someone may be in your car, no worries its all lit up. If the lights are off, be worried, it is not a dead battery!

Hey girl,

On this page http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=CAR#WLED-x6

I got the T13-x6 White for all three <-- I actually ordered 5 to play with them in my other cars.

I got one WLED-xHP5 White just to check it out. I like this bulb in the center position because it has LED's on the sides it illuminates the inside of the housing but is not as light intensive. Looks stock except for how white the light is.

The T13-x6 is excellent but the light angle is forward so the inside of the light housing is not that bright but the light in the car is amazing, I got the best of both by using both types.

I can tell you for the first time in my life I can comfortably apply makeup in a well lit with correct color lighting in a car. And this uses no power to do it. I love LED's

I highly recommend this upgrade 10 fold.

Thanks for the good info. Not the applying make-up part........ I am finding my...more experienced eyes  needing more light to read. Don't forget about the "cargo" area light. I'll be changing it out as well. 8)

btw christine, would you mind posting pictures of what the lights look like installed in your car? oh, and what did you do about the housing/plastic cover?
I put the stock covers back on, these LED's fit exactly in the stock locations.

I will take some pictures, it looks awesome because it is soooo white in the car, not the dingy yellow.

We will see how the camera handles taking pictures of light, usually the camera closes the aperture so you wont get the desired effect.

OK I took this while it is still light out to hope the outside light will help from blinding the CCD.

Here is all LED.

I put the stock 194 back in to show you the color temperature difference. look in the rearview mirror and you can se the difference in light output

The dome

The cargo lamp is festune bulb so the 194 wont work there. Bummer!

I will take a few when it is dark so you can see how bright and nice the light is.

Looks good. Should have been factory - it fits the Cube's mojo.
Agreed, with feng-shui dash and interior and all.

The bean counters must have calculated a savings of not doing it. The bulbs I bought came from Japan or China so I know they are dirt cheap wholesale. I too think this should be a standard option for vehicles.

I used superbrightleds in my truck before the Cube. Good stuff. I'll have to get some more. Don't get the cigarette light flashlight, it doesn't fit in the 12 volt socket. It will fit in the Titan lighter though.
