nissan doesn't offer one. probably because (according to the service manual), every time you pull off the shift knob for whatever reason, you're supposed to replace it with a new one. !!! wtf is that all about?
looky here:
notice the X next to the knob. that means:
wtf?
also here:
i don't freakin get it. but i think i'ma order an aftermarket one and see what i can do with it anyway.
Cable shift has been used on Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (8 for sure), some VW, and Preludes I believe. The Evo 8 I know for sure because my friend had one.
If it's like other modern cars, it has a pressure fitting. No clips or threads. Just a nylon sleeve (molded into the knob itself) that grips when pressed in place.
The sad thing is.... that means set screw bullshit...
The thing that sucks about this (and I know this sounds lame) is that one of the reasons I bought a manual is so that I could have full control over customization of the interior, including shift knob. Now while I can still add a knob, anyone that's had both set screw types and threaded types knows how horrible set screws are.
