It was a sad but happy day as I said good bye to my dark cherry '05 xB and drove off in a scarlet red Cube S. The Gen 1 xB was a great car, but 4 1/2 years of inner city driving had left their marks, and it was due for a PA safety inspection :D.

I didn't like 2nd gen xB (Toyota ruined a good idea) and I thought I was in love with KIA Soul, until I took it on a test drive. Being a die hard box man, I decided to take a look at the Cube. 1 hour later, I was driving it home. So help me, it those little snot nose kids in the hood hit it with their bikes, I am going to tie their shoe strings together, and toss them over a phone line, with the kids still in the shoes.

WOW. I guess first impressions mean a lot with you. My wife is the same way. On a test drive, she'll know if she likes a car within the first mile or just getting out of the dealer's lot.

I'm the same way. It only takes me a short drive to decide if it's for me or not. But with the cube, I never even saw one in person when I decided to buy it. I just read about it and bought it. The first time I drove it was to drive it home. No regrets at all. - Dan :)

nice welcome seems like a ton of xB owners migrating over to the cube. Guess scion did screw up a good idea.
Yes they did IMO. I loved the original boxy xB but never bought one. Then the cube came out...Glad I waited :)

JohnR,
By any chance did you buy the Red Cube at Conicelli? We drove by the dealership yesterday afternoon and saw a red Cube parked in front. When we returned from Home Depot we stopped in to see the car but it was gone. We then drove around the back of the dealership and noticed a very-worn dark-cherry xB. Coincidence?

That was my new Red Cube and my former xB you saw. 4 1/2 years of driving the narrow center city streets, and parking it on the street at night had taken its toll on the outside.

Yep, there's a lot of polarization going from the original xB to the new one. Some original xB owners love the change, while others despise it. I thought xB1 fans would like the Cube, and I guess that's what's happening! Kind-a-like the heir to the box :)!

Congrats on your new Cube Dude! How are you adjusting to the increase in power :)?
