Has anyone tried installing a rear-view mirror with the Homelink system built in? I'd assume it would be easy once hooked up to a power source. Any thoughts?
I do not think it would be too hard. I had a friend who installed one on their altima, It is just the matter of getting it to a power source and getting the wires run. I am almost tempted to do it, but I gotta work some more first....
Homelink refers to just what you said. There is a car interface (aka a couple of buttons) that can utilize these things. It's common nowadays to have a car that has three buttons that can activate three different devices (usually apt community gate, garage door, etc). Nissan is using the rear view mirror as the interface for that nowadays, so models that have it, not only have the buttons, but usually have a compass display in them and are in some instances auto-darkening.
