Hello everyone,

I just picked up my Cube on Thursday. I got a black 1.8S with a 6 speed. I had to drive 10 hours to Daytona Beach to get it. I looked at every dealership between Dickson to Knoxville, TN and all the way down through FL. The only 1.8S I could locate was in Daytona. There were lots of base models with a 6 speed but a 1.8S with 6 speed is like looking for hens teeth. But I found one. That was OK though, our son lives in FL so I made it a visit and picked up my car at the same time.....I love it. - Dan

Nice! I'm with ya on the 1.8S being a freaking Unicorn. I had 4 different dealers helping me look for a 1.8S 6spd in Steel Gray for a month... Finally broke down and got the Base Model + adding my own modifications now. Even that one, though, I had to drive to Indiannapolis to get!

Well the my first choice of color was white or steel gray (my last two cars were storm gray and liquid gray). But after searching everywhere the only one I found was this one in Daytona Beach and it's super black. I love black but wasn't looking forward to the upkeep of a black car again. But, with that said. The 1.8S with 6 speed was more important than the color so I bought the only one I found. Yeah the black does require more pampering, but what the heck. I have it and I'm real happy with my choice. Gotta love the cube...LOL

Now I need to start doing some mods....

Just out of curiosity, what made you want the 1.8S versus the Base Model so much? I was trying to get the Light Gray interior / Steel Gray exterior which is why I wanted the S, but after 30-40 days, and the knowledge that I don't like cleaning light colored interior, I just went for the Black base interior.

I'm thinking about doing a 2 toned dash paint job, though... or maybe just swapping out the plastic dash pieces for the light gray ones, when they become slightly easier to find. Already swapped out the stereo, and now looking for a better Cargo Light solution.

Just out of curiosity, what made you want the 1.8S versus the Base Model so much? Your reasoning?

I do a lot of highway driving since I kinda work out of my car a lot, and often I work at night. The speed control standard on the "S" as well as the dual map lights are my primary reasons. Unfortunately cruise control isn't an option on the base model, if it were I would have probably got it instead. I know I could have probably got it installed through an aftermarket vendor, but I needed my car ready for action right away.
