Good morning all....

Today I will most likely be ordering my CUBE 1.8S manual trannie CUBE from local dealer so i have a few remaining wuestions here for you oldies...

How bad is the crosswind problem on these boxes?

Are the insurance companies charging any higher/special rates for the CUBES?

Is the 20 Color Interior Accent Lighting "add on" worth the $290.00?

What exactly is the "add on" called "Interior Illumination package"? For $490.00 I would like to think they should have some general information on the Nissan site about it...Cannot find it anywhere...

Last and most important question is?...I live in Texas so would like to know exactly how good or bad the Air Conditioning is in this roomy vehicle?

Thanks in advance for any and all input...Everybody have a good week and Thanks again for help here

Frank,

Don't know about the lighting.

Yes the wind will push it around but it also does with the wife's Quest van which probably weighs twice as much. You really should highway test drive to see if it's a big deal for you or not. It's not an issue for me since I'm also a motorcyclist and the wind can really push a bike around.

Insurance rates will vary according to where you live and drive, your credit history, your age, claims history, and several other factors so comparing rates on a forum is basically meaningless. FWIW, mine went up $7 a month from my ancient 96 toyota rav4 with identical coverage.

I'm in Texas with a red SL with black interior and the a/c works very well. In particular, I have the auto a/c and after two weeks I think it's the neatest thing since canned beer; highly recommended.

Can't answer most of your questions, but...

When I ordered my (to be) Cube, they told me it would be 45 to 60 days, usually 45ish, but could take as long as 60. It took them 50 days to get a confirmed delivery date, and that date was almost 90 days!!! So, I ordered it on Memorial Day weekend, and am going to have to wait almost until Labor Day to get it! Also, on every special order, Nissan includes mud guards and floor mats, so if they haven't told you, you'll get charged extra for them.

As of two weeks ago, the Cube wasn't even in Progressive Insurance's database as a vehicle they could insure. They told me to get them the VIN number and they'd see what they could do. They also ESTIMATED that it would be close to the Versa to insure.

The interior illumination package is a combo of the interior accent lighting and the lighted floor boards.

My insurance went down (had a 2003 Sentra) mainly due to all the extra safety features (like the air bags).

I've been driving a Cube since Memorial Day, and I have never loved a car this much! I highly recommend the experience. And yes, the interior illumination package is worth it. It's one of the things that made me fall in love with the Cube.

Another note on the A/C: I ran an errand this afternoon with the cube parked outside in full sun since this morning. I haven't tinted the front windows but do use a sunblock on the windshield while parked. With the instrument panel thermometer reading 104f  and the auto a/c set to 76f, the fan unit ramped up to full speed (of course) upon start up but within 3 minutes driving time it had all ready backed off 2 bars on the fan speed.

Ever tried standing in the wind holding a 4'x8' sheet of plywood broadside against the wind? Kinda like that only with rounded corners. Where I live the wind doesn't blow it sucks. When I get in it I just accelerate. Problem solved.

I went with Progressive. No special or higher price. Needed VIN# as someone else mentioned. I got that from the purchase order form at the dealer. I too had to wait about 3 weeks for mine to come in.

Very cool and another conversation piece to show when, not if, you show off your Qb.

Lighted "CUBE" custom front door sills and the interior illumination package. I debated the sill plates but did not get. :-\ Others may have them and be able to tell you if worth $.

Literally very cool!! I'm in the desert of Eastern Washington where in the summer like now, we are at the century mark regularly.

My 2 cents for ya. 8)

Out here in West Texas the wind blows every day. THere is some noise when the wind is over 20 mph. HIgher winds and it wants to move; but no real issues here.
