Hello everyone, I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this. Every time I take my car into the dealer, they recommend all these fluid flushes. Transmission, Coolant, and brake fluid flushes. Why wouldn't they just drain and refill? The service guide manual makes no mention of this. There is no special circumstance, that I know of, that would make my car in need of a "flushing." They keep recommending a "fuel induction service" too. The service manual makes no mention of that either.

My Cube is an automatic, 2013, and has 38,000 miles. Just trying to figure out what the norm is. I assume it is time for me to at least drain and fill these fluids, but any advice on that would be appreciated too.

You don't need flushes unless your car is really old. coolant change around 50k or longer since we have the blue coolant which is long life, since it's an automatic you have a CVT, I do recommend you change your CVT fluid out every 30K unless you use a synthetic CVT fluid then up to 50k. But changing your CVT fluid is important, A lot of cars have CVT issues due to lack of fluid change especially Nissan CVTs are kinda of crappy.

I also wouldn't go to a dealer, except for an oil change. What I would do regarding a fluid change find a local mechanic that will charge little for fluid changes and I would just take my own fluids in to have it changed, buy Nissan coolant at the dealer and CVT fluid from the dealer. You don't have to but personally, I prefer to use OEM fluids. Also you might want to consider using amsoil 25k oil, I just change my oil once a year plus, since the oil is good for 25k and the amsoil filter is good for 15k. !00% synthetic. My cars been running very well on it been using it for few years now. Not having to change oil every few months is awesome

Curious to know why you would need an alignment every 12 months? I wouldn't think it necessary unless you've gotten suspension work done or had a hard hit on a curb?

I had the transmission fluid drained and filled a few days ago. It probably is a good idea to do that, I waited until 38k and it seems like my car is driving smoother now. Could be my imagination, but the rpms and vibrations aren't as intense when the car is stopped. I will do it every 30,000 miles from now on.

I normally only change the oil once or twice a year, which is every 3,000 miles for me. My car has such low miles that I take age into account for a lot of things.

My automatic specialist recommends doing an auto service every 20000km - 30000km

Curious to know why you would need an alignment every 12 months? I wouldn't think it necessary unless you've gotten suspension work done or had a hard hit on a curb?

I do it to try to get the best life out of the tyres & being so inexpensive it is usually done at a tyre rotation time

Gotcha thanks! Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something. Just had it done when I bought the car and found a lower control arm needing replacement.

09 Cube Cvt 60000 miles.

From google searches I did the Nissan dealer official advice is either flush the transmission every 35K miles or just inspect it. Unofficial advice from the garage down the road from me is drain and replace transmission fluid every 25k miles. My local dealer advised me not to get a flush, only an inspection, unless I had flushes done regularly as flushes can change the operation of the transmission causing slipping ect. I believe the issue is transmission fluid with years of built up gunk have a higher viscosity than new fluid. I did have my transmission fluid drained and replaced and am happy with the result. The advice to only inspect the fluid does not seem to be bad as my local mechanic told me the filter did not need replacing and the fluid was ok. There are occasional horror stories about fluids being replaced incorrectly and destroying the engine or transmission, so their is a danger there.

Youtube auto advice guy Scotty Kilmer advises draining and replacing transmission fluid and is luke warm or discouraging about flushing a transmission as it might force crud into small openings, which he says are numerous in transmissions.

My dealer advised, and I consented, to a coolant flush.

Maybe other posters can give their experiences with these fluid issues.

Trans flush just completed - 59K miles, CVT works better than before.
Radiator flush completed, no issues.
This is Nissan suggested maintenance intervals - not dealer ones, which
many times are early, not required and to drive dealer profit. Look at your
owners manual. If its a suggested service, find a honest dealer and insist
on Nissan fluids for your CVT. There are others out there with the same
ISO cert's, but some problems with using other manufactures fluids has
been confirmed. Do what Nissan says, should not have any issues.

"so inexpensive"? Around here, an alignment can cost $100 or more. I've been driving for sixty years, and I think I had alignment done once - because I had a coupon for a free one. : )

Trans flush -

A friend has a Honda CR-V, and the transmission was slipping. With almost 300,000 miles on the car, she didn't want to put a lot of money into a transmission repair. She went to her local mechanic. He drained and flushed the trans, and it works fine. I change my trans fluid at about every 30,000 miles.

Hi jcurtis I change my transmission fluid every 20,000 - 25,000 km & get the filters done as well ($220) .
With the wheel alignment I get it done once a year ($40 ) & rotate the tyres every 5,000km ($20)
