Hi,

I live in Toronto, looking to buy myself a Cube, it's just too cool!!!
The thing is I love camping... Have any of you tried to carry a canoe on top?
It will not flip it ?
Also how does it go on on dirt roads/logging roads?

I got there by driving a Toyota Echo and Mini... Slowly but surely :) sometimes VERY slowly ;D
Actually I want to get a Cube because of camping... a lot of room for such a small... and COOL!!! car. Windows are huge so you can see EVERYTHING - like a tour bus.
And again... imagine this SURER-COOL-CUBE in the forest... someone might think that we are not alone in the universe!
My biggest concern is about putting a canoe on top of the Cube.

I don't suppose they sell the Electric 4 wheel drive version in Canada, do they? That would be helpful. I don't know what the ground clearance is on the Cube, but it's not very much, I'm sure. Minimal overhang, that's for sure. More aggrressive tires would only be suitable for off road purposes. You'll just have to be very CAREFUL. :-\
Even a Cube will be able to carry a Canoe and your camping gear. With more than 2 people you might run into problems

I guess clearance of Cube is strongly guarded secret... You cannot find it in specs
I measured one with my fingers (it was on the ramp in a dealership) around 160mm. Not too bad. Yaris is 140mm.

What kind of problems you're referring to, I'll run in with more then 2 people?

I'm pretty sure I've seen pictures of a Cube with a surfboard on the top, but for the life of me, I can't find it now! I'm almost positive it was a Japanese Cube though, and may have been an older model. But if a surfboard is on the top, I can't imagine why you couldn't have a canoe on top.

Hm...
I tried to call dealers. :mad:no one can give me a straight answer about a canoe.
I called Nissan canada customer service... same thing. They told me we do not have canoe racks for sale ???
Has anybody tried to carry a canoe with the cube?
Or does anyone know where to call about tech specs?

This is just my opinion, but I think you would be fine putting a canoe on top of the cube. The Yakima roof rack system for the cube has a canoe attachment available. My boyfriend has had a canoe on a Dodge Neon and even that was OK. I have not had actual experience, but have also seen the original Scion XB with a canoe on top and that vehicle was of similar dimension to the cube.

Yakima makes a roof system for sure, as menitoned already. Now, regarding canoe on top...Just yesterday, I saw a Smart Car with a LONG ASS Kayak on top; it was HILARIOUS...but yeah...I'm sure a canoe on a cube would be easy in comparison.
