If so is there a trick to doing so? that's what i'd love to find. But one dealer told me if you get an sl you have to get one of the packages and that just sounds way shady. then another dealer was looking around in the area outside their dealership and said all of the sl's in the area had some sort of extra package. I just want the base sl and nothing more. any one have any tips on if this is even possible?

thanks

I have the SL. Along with the actual physical driving/handling characteristics of the Cube, the preferred package is what I enjoy the most about the car. Not having to find your keys or fish around for the remote, never touching the air con, never turning on/off the headlights, steering wheel controls, nice sound system, and having a bluetooth phone connection have made day to day driving so much less of a hassle that I look forward to even the most mundane of driving trips. IMNSHO, it is well worth the money.

If you can't find one built the way you want, you can order one. Since they are built and shipped from Japan, it will take awhile though. It seems most folks here wait at least a couple of months for special orders. Most dealers want to sell what is on their lot and not what they don't have so they will do pretty much anything, including not telling the truth, to get you into one of theirs. And sales droids can also be just flat out ignorant about their business.

Me too with the SL.
How right you are.Exactly my sentiments.
Also I like the satellite radio I've got hooked on  with the Fosgate system.
They did send an option for a years radio for $C 6.95 a month by mail, much better than the $C 14.95 per month phone call offers I was getting from Manilla.Sorry to see what Manilla has been going through. :(
Cheers.

Most likely the only way you'll get a standard SL without any options is to order one, but yes you can get it that way. Unfortunately for stealerships it's all about the $$$, When they order cars for lot stock they usually order at least one option package or another, this adds to their profit margin.

I ran into the same problem when I bought my HHR 1LT. I couldn't find one anywhere with the manual tranny. Stealerships almost alway's order the 1LT and 2LT with an automatic (expensive option). So I had to special order mine the way I wanted it with the manual. - Dan

Square1 is right - if you order one, you can specify what you do/don't want. Or, you can get lucky like we did, and stumble on a Cube that hasn't been dealer-prepped yet. They had ours in the showroom with 4 miles on it. It didn't even have the dealer name/logo on it yet. Lucky for us.
