We're trying to buy a Carribean Blue SL with the SL Preferred and Interior light packages, and we're having quite a time. Last Thursday the salesman said he found the car we wanted at another dealership, and we'd have it this week. Monday he called and said the car meant for us was sold to someone else but he found another one, without the light package but with a cargo organizer, splash guards, floor mats, and alalrm. We said we'd take that car and it was supposed to be delivered to us today. Yesterday we got a call that that car was sold to someone else as well. AAUUGGHHH!!!!
The salesman said we could have a car with the options we wanted but the color would have to be chosen from two colors we don't like.
As of this morning it looks like we'll have to special order the car which, we're told, will take six to eight weeks.
Is this buying experience in any way typical?

cars.com - see if you can find it yourself - may have to drive or may have to work through an "internet salesman" but hopefully they can get it...

I know I saw 3 or 4 Caribbeans on there the other night...

Have you tried Nissan's own website. After you build the cube to your specs, you can check inventory in your region. I believe the more non-traditional colors like the blue will be harder to find; especially when wanting a specific package/options. IMO, do not sacrifice the Preferred package. GOOD LUCK!

blue is an uncommon color for sure. i had to order mine...i placed my order august 1 and haven't heard anything from the dealership since then, though it can take up to 90 days for delivery. if you don't mind waiting, i'd say go for it now and badger them about it every few weeks because they might be able to locate a similar one close-by that they can sell to you instead

We had a similar problem. We were looking for a white SL and everytime we found one it was either fully loaded and over $21,000 or it sold before we could even see it. That is why I ended up with a white Krom. I would have waited to have one special ordered, but I was afraid cash for clunkers would end. and behold it did.

Yup pretty much! I had an all out search done for mine, even considered a color change but I stuck to my guns and drove 1 state and 3 hours away to get mine. I am glad I did too :yes: I have nissan dealers all over and all had Cubes available in bitter chocolate.

yeah, I tried do support my local dealer, but they only seem to have a 50 mile 'search radius'

so I googled other dealers, checked their own websites, which about a third of them had prices posted,
made tons of calls, and finally drove 150 miles to get what I wanted,
plus it meant that I was the first one to really drive it, not being delivered/driven to my local dealer


the google map worked great, typed in a town and nissan,
and as I moved the map it showed all the other nissan dealers, theres plenty in ca

It's funny cause that's the same exact model and packages I am looking for too. Admittedly, I can't afford it yet, but within two months I'm not looking forward to that kind of hassle.

i just bought a white S 6spd manual with gray int. thru the Costco buying program. it was very low stress and they were able to get me the exact car i wanted thru trade with another dealer.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, frankly. We all have tales to tell of dealers. If you want the the right spec and right colour vehicle today, you will either strike lucky or you will have to wait. If you think a dealer is messing you about, go somewhere else, if you can. It's not a Nissan thing per se - they're all having a bit of a problem right now, and the cube seems to be in some spectacular demand. I thought I had one bought off the lot last week, but they sold it, so I took their demo - same colour, but with 1200 Kms on the clock. So, $500 canajun off. I don't mind. I could have waited 6 weeks for the next batch, but it suited me to have one now. Go with the flow.

BUT, I'm not giving up -- I want the blue! I've been told it's really hard to get too. If I wanted white, gray or black, I could have had one in July, but I'm holding out for the BLUE!!! :yes:

We live in the back of a subdivision of about 250 homes in a small town. Just now, as I was walking through our living room, I looked out our front windows and saw a CARIBBEAN BLUE CUBE turning around in OUR driveway! I ran to the front door, but he was already gone!

What are the odds? THE car I've been waiting for turns around in OUR driveway! Grrrrrrrr! WHERE'S MINE? :-\

I know what it's like trying to find exactly what you want. When I decided to get a cube I wanted a white "S" with 6 speed. The SL and KROM were out because they're not available without a CVT. I didn't want a base 1.8 cause cruise control isn't offered.

Went to our local dealer and they didn't have any cubes at all, I asked them to locate me one but that to didn't work. All they could find were either base 1.8's (with a 6 speed) or models with CVT.

I did my own search from Nashville to Knoxville and every dealer to the south down through central Florida.

I finally found an "S" with a 6 speed at Daytona Beach Nissan, it's black but that's one of the colors I love although not my first choice. The "S" model with 6 speed was more important than color. I called them up and we struck a deal. They held the car for me about 4 day's, then I went down and picked it up.

It was OK though since our son lives in FL. I made the trip down to FL a mini vacation while I was there.

still waiting for mine, too :no: ordered august 1...i just called the dealership, and they could only tell me that it would be at least another 20 to 30 days (but the guy i talked to is going to talk with someone else and call me back to give a better arrival estimate).

Well, you sure must know I feel your pain! The waiting seems forever, doesn't it? I'm starting to wonder how long they'll be selling the '09's -- that's what my order (and price) is for.

I just hope there really IS a Caribbean Blue Cube for ME at the end of this wait!! :roll:
