My interior is actually a chocolate brown, not black. The seats are indeed "black cloth" as Nissan states on their website, but the rest is definitely brown.

Are all the "black" interiors like this? Brown plastic with black cloth?

I have a scarlet red SL with black interior and yes it is black with some slightly lighter shades towards the gray scale. From the a-pillers up to the headliner is white-ish gray (hard to describe). Pics would help but I don't have any on this computer.

Yeah, I've noticed that most car makers like to do this. It really clashes with dark interiors. BMW, on the other hand, gets my respect for using black pillars & headliners in their darker interiors (or at least they used to).

I have a two tone grey and black. I am thankful for the black/dark grey carpet and mats (visible stains drive me nuts) but my seats and parts of the dash as well as the headliner are grey. I'd really prefer all black because I'm paranoid my seats will get dingy looking. I need to look into decent seat covers...My girlfriend of course does not understand my borderline obsessive compulsive behavior and thinks I'm silly. I guess detailing for 5 + years will make you this way
