This may be a dumb question and yes I looked in the owners manual and the service manual. When turning the ignition key I get three or four beeps and the orange light comes on in the center of the display. But this only seems to happen when the car has not been started for a few hours. Other times I just get the light and on beeps. Is there some significance to the beeping?

Ok thanks. I need to check if I am releasing the brake sometimes before starting since it does not happen all the time

perhaps it's the seatbelt warning chime? according to the manual, you'll hear beeps if you don't have your seatbelt buckled when the car is turned on.

Not the sealtbelt the emergency brake


Here's what happens:

1) Get in the car close door
2) Put key in ignition
3) Turn key on
4) Light in center of dash lights up and car will beep 4 times
5) Light goes out car stops beeping whether seatbelt or e brake is on or off
6) Drive the car to work
7) Turn car off
8) Then if is go to start the car a short time later no beep just light with same steps

This is a 6 speed so maybe something different than CVT. ANy other 6 speed owners that can help?

Ok found the problem. Will have to go back to dealer to fix. It is the seat belt. Sometimes when latched it still beeps but when it does this I can pull on it a bit and it stops. Called the dealer and make arrangements to take it in tomorrow. He told me it is the second one he has seen with the problem. Said it is a 10 minute fix.
