Anyone with regrets?

Just wondering if anyone has any regrets about buying their Cube? When I went to the Nissan dealership, I went with the intention of buying a Versa but ended up with a Cube. Although I loved it at first, I now feel like I may have made an impulsive decision by buying the Cube instead of the car that I had researched before hand and had gone there to buy. My husband was never a big fan of the Cube and still isn't. I justified buying a new car by the fact that our Ford Focus is getting high in miles so if we got a brand new car we could give the Focus a break. Well.....my husband thinks the Cube is a chic car so really doesn't drive it at all. It took me 38 years to buy a brand new car so I know I should be overjoyed but I just keep thinking I may have chosen the wrong vehicle. I got a great deal on my Cube as I did the C4C plus they took $500 off, and my payments are only $160 so that it not an issue at all. I got a base model so it doesn't have all of the bells and whistles like some do.

I have been contemplating calling the dealership and asking them what they would give me for it at this point with only 1200 miles or if they would be willing to work out a deal towards the end of the year when they are trying to get rid of 2009s and basically just do an even trade or have even thought of trying to sell it outright and maybe come close to breaking even.

Does anyone who owned a Versa have any input as to Cube vs. Versa? Any input is greatly appreciated but try not to be too hard on me. ;)

I doubt the dealer will give you a good deal on the trade in of the cube. I think the cube is a much better vehicle than the Versa but it is personal preference. Why not give it some more time and see if it grows on you?
Wow Girl, I see allot of regret there!

Don"t have such regret, you got a great vehicle that gets good gas mileage! You mentioned the base so I don't know if you got the manual or the CVT, if you got the CVT you get the best gas miles for an Automatic trans I know of. The Versa (at least some) are built in Mexico and the Cube is fully built in Japan. The cube is a deal in price for the offering too. The KIA is always compared but I have no love for Korean vehicles, reports aside. I lived in Korea!

If you feel that bad there are plenty of people willing to take your cube of your hands! Some of us had to work to get the ride of choice, me included!

Let us know how all it all works out?

Christine
Well I had a little bit of regrets getting the cube. But that is because I traded in a 2005 Infiniti FX35 with 40,000 miles. I really miss that car, but I am loving the Cube now and able to make it more personalized for me with out it costing an arm and a leg. I really did the trade for cheaper insurance and gas. I can tell you know that I am spending half the cost on gas and about 100 less in insurance a month.

No regrets. I'm also very secure in my manhood in driving my Cube. So much for the chic car whatever that means. There are inventory shortages around the country so you'd be better off selling it outright than trading if that is where you end up. I remember when we were looking for our Xb. Used were selling for more than new due to the no dicker pricing Toyota had at the time. 8)

Chompsticks, buddy, my opinion and my opinion alone, that was one ugly car! People think the cube is ugly  that infinity was butt ugly  you traded up and saved some $$$ :D

CubicKrom, same here on the Fit, a month after I bought the Fit (March 08) saw one used for $2K over sticker  the love has tapered off now gas prices have settled down.
I must admit I had similar feelings at first. I do love the car. The mileage was better than I hoped. It has lots of cargo space with the rear seats folded down and moved forward. I am waiting for the trunk organizer that, "levels the playing field". I think this will be ideal for the dog. It is very peppy and has a sportscar feel on the twisties. It's an economy car after all and I didn't expect too much to begin with but I do enjoy driving something different and my teenagers think its cool.
Give it a little more time and I think you'll find out its a good daily driver. I commute to Boston every day and it has been very practical for me. It's no mini cooper but for 10K less it suits me fine.

@CK: wow, calling the infiniti (it's with an "i" btw) "butt ugly" is a stretch. the fx is timeless, a masterpiece, the original performance crossover that set the industry standard. it was a little polarizing when launched back in 2003 so i can see why some people might've been a little shocked by the breakthrough styling. personally, i think the versa - on the other hand - is more appropriate to call "ugly". there isn't a unique or compelling thing about it.

@Chompsticks: i feel your pain because i sold my 07 infiniti g sedan sport (w/ only 19K mi - see pic attached) last month for the cube. i miss the performance and luxuries it offered but the gas mileage was horrible (17 mpg combined) and the payments and insurance were very expensive. but now that we've just had a baby it was impractical to keep the g around so we smartly moved the cube, which my wife and i LOVE.

@mjc: the cube is made on the versa platform so that might help you sleep better knowing that you at least bought 'half' a versa ;) i think you'll grow to love the cube. it's unique, compelling and fun to drive. imho, it blows the versa out of the water. the base model is fantastic for the price, but it might've been even more fun/interesting if you had bought some of the bells and whistles which the cube is loaded with at higher trim levels. if you really want to sell the cube then you would probably be able to sell it as a private party and break even since you saved so much off msrp with cfc and the other discount. consider it :-\

lastly, i doubt many people on this board would have regrets buying their cube - afterall, it's a CUBE FORUM! - but some might have regrets with the color and/or trim that they bought. for example, i LOVE my black sl, but i think the white exterior would've made the wraparound window 'pop' a lot more. the black sort of 'hides' the most compelling styling feature. also, i sorta regret not holding out for an sl with the preferred package because for $1,600 you get sooo many awesome goodies.

p.s. i think the op meant "chick" (as in girl) not "chic" - pr. "sheek" (as in stylish).

I bought a Cube while helping my sister-in-law buy a Versa. Both cars have the same engine but when you look closely at the engine you can clearly see the difference in quality. I took pictures of her Versa and my Cube engine. You will notice the alternator on a brand new Versa looks corroded. If you look behind the alternator you will notice the engine block is corroded as well. The Cube has a nice and shinning engine block and alternator.

Stick with the Cube. The higher quality with make it last longer.

Ok I have a question for this person. What specifically are your regrets? You don't like the way it drives? you don't like it's interior? ???? I didn't actually see a regret mentioned besides the fact your hubby won't drive it. Shoot thats a plus. No adjusting the seat, mirrors, and radio back to fit you. Hubby not wanting to drive it is a plus! LOL

I don't have regrets. I was luving it a year ago when they announced it was coming out. I drove a 1st gen XB so this was a good trade. a little more room, a little better gas mileage, a bigger engine, and a whole new car to modify. I live to modify. LOL
Christinek: I think both cars were/are radical styles and really only targeted to people who like unique stylings... The reason I chose the Cube over other small wagons/hatchs/cars. However, everyone does have their own opinions because I have had a lot of people just giving me a look at disgust at both cars. Just be thankful (hope no one had one....) That you do not drive a Pontiac Aztek...... That was a disgusting car..... By the look of the photo they have Aztek meetings....

whtbst: Glad I can have someone to relate to. I miss the luxury and performance too. However, I was averaging between 14mpg to 18mpg.

I have no regrets on the car, What I really just miss is having a fast car. This is my first 4 cyclinder car, with less then 200hp. But I am finding that the cube definately has some pick up and go.

I LOVE my Cube and so does my macho husband. I have been looking at the boxy styles since they came out, and almost went with the Scion, but hesitated, for some reason. As soon as I looked at the Cube, I knew why! I had been waiting for this car. I love everything about it! The gas mileage is great and it's roomy, comfortable, and I get people stopping me everywhere to look at it. I've met some awesome people in the process! We looked at the Kia Soul and no comparison when it comes to quality. Give it some time, but if not, there are people waiting to get Cubes here in Oregon.

My mistake on the spelling sorry! But yes the car is foul in my admiration and mine alone. That is called an opinion and cars are sold on them. Please feel free to tell us how you feel about our rides! I will 8)

I love my Cube,Fit,Titan,S-10,Triton 21. Mention a Honda here and you get what you get!

It is all fun! ;)
Infiniti FX is one fo the best looking vehicles out there!

My only regret is buying from Nissan Chrysler On Nicholasville (aka MAC Auto Team). Ron Mccauley is a know crook & sure enough they ripped me off BIGTIME, scratched my shifter & door handle, and they refuse to cooperate to resolve the issues... some days I feel like dumping the car for sure.
i gotta go with christine on this one...i find the infiniti fx to be quite an eyesore ??? but not everyone will like a given car. hell, a LOT of people rage over how ugly they think the cube is!

MJC (op): it's common to feel that way after spending so much money on a big purchase, especially if you didn't research it much beforehand. and i'm sure you realize that the replies here will be biased in favor of the cube, but it truly is a great car - not just because of the funky styling but because you get so many features for the price. a versa with similar features would be comparable in price...but the cube is manufactured and assembled in japan, unlike the versa which is assembled in mexico. no offense to mexico, but japan simply has higher standards when it comes to things like this.

please try to relax and enjoy your awesome new car. i'm sure many cube owners, including me, forwent a versa in favor of a cube after having researched both 8) and nuts to your hubby! my bf (i'm a girl, btw) doesn't exactly love the cube, but since he's used to his ridiculously fast sti, most cars feel boring to him.

None, Zero, Zilch, Nada.

I am still in love with my Black S. My wife is jealous. There is so much to do to customize mine, that I will never get bored with it or regret the purchase. My wife wants a Blue SL. I told her when she gets the minivan payed off, be my guest... ;-)

I love the cube, and while the NCL stickers are still being developed I think a I am going to have a local business do me up the Nissan cubed vinyl, it just looks right. At least the High School kids will get it when I pass them doing 90...
No regrets on my end. I was driving a G35 SC for 6 years and don't miss the premium gas or higher insurance. The cube gives me lots of room and easily handles my golf buddies who are all 6-2 .. 200 pounds plus.
I like the Versa, its a nice compact car. But the Cube has a spirit of its own. A little buyers remorse is understandable but I think you will find out years down the road if you ever decide to trade in or sell your Cube it will have held its value much better than the Versa would have. I would go as far as saying that a 09 Cube could possibly be a collectors car many years from now in much the same way early model Datson 240Z's or VW's are collected and sell for 5 times or more the amount the sold for new. Hang on to your Cube and enjoy!

Kudos :D

Looking at that original posted picture the engine compartment is larger than the cabin, the rear door is consumed buy a wheel well. Big nose, little head, the pigmy car :D

I can tell you I also don't care for Pontiac's, Dodge (except the Magnum), Saab and Kia. I just don't find the styling to my liking. This is totally a styling issue and not a performance one. Feel free to blast me a good one, as long as it is a blast on style and not performance.

You could have an 100 Mph Car that gets 100 Mpg and is ugly as dirt and I will tell you so. You all dis my Honda just fine :D

I'm good, keep it coming
