My wife and I consider our dogs as our family and they are always part of all our major purchases (boats, cars and houses).

Back in 2003 we saw the (then) new MINI Cooper, fell in love with it and bought one. We were pleased when we read that the new MINIs had a bulldog look and stance. The stuffed bulldog from the dealer, with his name MINI on his collar, has ridden in our car ever since.

Two weeks ago, my wife told me she saw an unusual car on the road, she said it was cute, described the asymmetrical rear window and asked if I had seen one. I hadn’t.

Last week, she discovered it was the Cube, looked up the specs on line and was intrigued.

We had our wish list for color (bitter chocolate), model (1.8SL), options (Preferred, Interior Illumination and Interior Designer) and went for a test drive.

We were stunned to find a car that perfectly matched our wish list sitting on the lot. Did a test drive and 4 hours later drove home with our second automotive bulldog.

And the car’s name: Nemo. After my wife’s first childhood pet, a bulldog named Nemo!

So happy to see another MINI owner on board. I have a Clubman and the Carribean blue Cube. Just got the plate RUBIK for it.
Welcome to the CUBE family!

The MINI CLubman is 155.8 inches long. The Cube is 156.7 inches long. I can attest to that as mine are parked next to each other in the garage. The Clubman is 9 inches longer than the MINI coupe. The 4WD MINI that is coming out will be a bit longer than the Clubman and also higher (6 inches I think).

I knew that was too much. I measured the Coupe for my Greyhounds before the Clubman was released in 2008. I was on the list for Clubbie for 25 months before its release in the States. It was a long wait and I ended up writing an article about it for BMW Roundel magazine to use up some of the adrenaline rush after I placed the order in Dec. '07.
I was surprised to see how close in size the two cars were the first time I parked the Cube next to the MINI. The Cube ended up as my dog car because the Cube is perfect for my Greyhounds height.

Thanks. The white dog is a tripod Greyhound pup. The Cube is perfect for him as I can easily lift him up into it using his harness that has a handle on the back. He loves it. I had to take him to the vet the other day and he was sitting back there looking out the back window at the cars and scenery behind us. That is a first for him as he used to be afraid to go in any car.
My 4-1/2-year-old Doberman died Tuesday, so now there is one less soul to go in the Cube. He was my 8th and last Dobie. I've lost them all at such young ages I can't go through it any more even though I love the breed.

oh i am so sorry for your loss, dobys are wonderful dogs, i had 2 about 30 years ago. my cousin had 2 dobys pass away a few years ago at a very young age as well, both with heart conditions which the breed is known to have.
he now has two more one 4yrs and the other is about 6 yrs.

Once a Dobie has stolen your heart it's hard to not want another. Henry died from cardiomyopathy--so common in the breed. I think that his arthritis that he developed at age 2 led to the heart disease. I researched it and it happens in humans, so why not our dogs. My first Dobe was 9 when he died (cancer) and he was a soulmate to me. I think we are lucky to have one such soul in our lives, and I was lucky to have 8, none as close as the first, but still all so wonderful.
As much as I yearn for another, I changed to Greys a few years ago as they are so much healthier. Love them too and it is why I went searching for the right car for them.
The Cube really is a treat to put them into and it makes me smile, too.
I'm trying to figure out a smaller dog breed to find as a companion to my Min Pin and Greys. I really like the Welsh Terrier, but would have to find a pup so the others accept him or her. I shy away from white dogs as Greyhounds are taught to chase white objects on the track. Plus I have asthma so I have to be careful selecting the right breed.
Sorry to get off topic. Thank you for sharing your dogs with me.
