Hello, and thanks for letting me join this group.
I have a 2009 6 speed and have randomly had issues not starting on first crank. It seldom happens, but when it does it takes 8 or more attempts. When it fails, there is no sound at all not even the whirring sound you hear with a starter motor failing.
So my first thought was the clutch starter switch. However, it seems this had already been removed- you can see in photo where it would have been ?
I have replaced positive and negative clamps to battery, I have a new battery and Ican only think it is the solenoid on starter - so new starter ??
What has me most perplexed is that you still have to depress clutch, even though it appears that previous owner removed this entirely.

I've got a 2010 automatic with the push-start ignition and it does that sometimes. I do the same as Speculator, except I shift to neutral, then back to park, and it cranks (weird).
