Advice re: Replacing Driver Side View Mirror

Hello there!

I'm brand new to this Nissan Cube Forum and have joined to help out my daughter who owns a 2010 named Max.

She had a driver side mirror that is attached now only by some strong gaffer tape. So we need help to (a) buy the correct replacement part and (b) understand some of the details in connecting the replacement part.

I'm assuming that we'll need an OEM replacement for the entire assembly, although the mirror and housing are not broken, just the connecting "arm" I guess you might call it.

I've searched the forum and have only found information about replacing the actual mirror glass.

My first step will be to start searching for replacement side view mirror units. I know from experience with the Honda Element (another "toaster!") which I own that there are vendors other than the dealer that sell OEM parts. Perhaps you have a recommendation of which vendors might be the best for the repair we need to make.

Thanks in advance for any advice you are able to offer!

EDIT 1: I have just searched for the replacement unit on the Nissan USA eStore site and have found this:

96302-1FC0C
MIRROR-SKULL CA
for $261.55

I have also found the part on NissanPartsDeal.com for $175.50

What information do I need to share to understand if I need to purchase the entire "mirror skull" unit or if I just need some individual parts to make the repair? Would a photo help?

END EDIT 1

It's me again, with another edit:

I've also found the complete Mirror Housing replacement part @

Jack Ingram Nissan Parts
Nissan 96302-1FC0C MIRROR-SKULL CAP LH > $165.43

Do you have any recommendations one way or the other regarding these different vendors?

And finally (I think) is it possible to purchase the replacement unit in the matching color? = Pearl White

TIA for your help! _henry

You don't necessarily need an OEM one, RockAuto.com is a reputable site that stocks mostly aftermarket parts that are usually used in collision repairs because OEM has such ridiculous prices. They have what you're looking for at about 50$ plus shipping.

You wont find one in pearl white, not even if you buy the genuine part. But you could potentially pop the colored part off the damaged mirror and swap it on to the new one.

For install , watch this versa video. The basics are the same but the cube doesn't have manual windows , it will just be a wiring harness to connect.

MDavid,

thank you so very much for the detailed reply to my post! For some reason I didn't think of checking out RockAuto for the Nissan Cube part -- I've used the site when working on my own Honda Element!

And taking the painted part of the original side mirror unit and using that to replace the painted piece in the new unit? Just another simple and brilliant suggestion!

Finally, thanks for the reference to the video. Will definitely check it out.

Your help is much appreciated.
