Re: Electric motor for rear wheels

The electric motor for the jdm cube and tiida/latio for the eAWD might be possible, but does it worth it? Must be a pita to make everything work when needed. If it's for winter purpose, you might want to invest in a great set of tires for that specific season.

Re: Electric motor for rear wheels

We could probably get better gas mileage just by having one of those systems that kill the engine at a stop light.

It would require a stronger starter motor for the repeated starts.

At some japanese salvage? Like I wrote, it would be a pita to make it work. The e4WD system consists of a rear-wheel drive unit comprising a motor, clutch and reduction gear, an engine-driven generator used exclusively as the power source for driving the motor, and a 4WD control unit. In words, you'll need a rear axle from a jdm tiida/latio or cube. Gonna be heavy and high on the price for shipping.

Does it worth it? I don't think so, get something that it already awd/4wd instead, like the Juke if you like it and appreciate the Nissan brand. Or enjoy your cube, get some great winter tires.

Re: Electric motor for rear wheels

The "e-4x4" is normal front wheel drive + an electric motor drives the rear wheels. just press the switch on the dash & hey presto you have 4wd !!
Lots of this version in japan especially in north island (Hokkaido?) where there is heaps of snow so if you are looking for one make sure its not full of rust.

Re: Electric motor for rear wheels

I'd say it's worth any amount of car financing bad credit if it means great and relaible set of tires for my beloved car. I wouldn't need to think twice about it.
