Oil, the other important fluid

It's really cold where I live sometimes down to -40 I use synthetic oil in the winter so I don't have to plug in a block heater, but I go back to regular oil in the summer because it's cheaper and I have heard that synthetic oil will not displace water like regular oil does. It may cause corrosion in an engine designed for regular oil. Does anyone know if it's bad to switch between the two different oils? I can't find much information about it.

Re: Oil, the other important fluid

From what I've read, switching between regular and synthetic is only discouraged when you have a high mileage engine that has used regular dino all its life.

Supposedly, an old engine that used dino all the time might develop leaks when switched to synthetic.
