Re: cube in snow

No issues in the snow. Live just outside Toronto, and in anurban setting, where even the heaviest falls only hang around a day or so before the plow comes by, the Cube was just fine without even snows on . . .

By the by, wifey has a Cobalt, and has no issues in the snow . . . hmmmmmm.

Resistance is futile

Re: cube in snow

I drove in a foot of snow last winter in Bloomington, IL. The town was terrible about plowing the streets but I rarely ran into an issue of sliding.

I do have a lot of experience driving in snow so I don't have problems with most vehicles. My brother has a Saturn Ion and it slid like a madman.

The Cube does well! No chains, studs or snow tires for me.

Re: cube in snow

Also in the Toronto area, and did not really get too much of a chance to have much fun in snow last winter. Just not a lot of snow. The most snow we saw was when we drove to Florida in February.

Are you in more of a snow or freezing rain area? If you do decide on getting winter tires, pick a set best suited to your local conditions. The goodyears I use are rated better on ice and wet surfaces versus deep snow.

I put on a set of Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice P195 60 R15 87Q on 15 inch steels, replacing the stock Toyos 195 55 R16 on the 16 rims. The cube handled what snow we had very well. Did find that hand break turns can be entertaining.
